Meet Lina: Our Founder and Creative Director
Lina Garcia's remarkable journey in the world of fashion is a testament to her unyielding passion, determination, and dedication. Born in Cereté, Colombia, her story is one of resilience, creativity, and excellence.
From a young age, Lina was influenced by her grandmother and mother, both talented in sewing and garment creation. Their work ethic and kindness inspired Lina to dream big. She spent countless hours in her family's workshop, discovering her own flair for fashion. While pursuing a bachelor's degree in Teaching, Lina's heart was drawn to fashion. She crafted clothing, bags, and accessories, which she sold to fund her education and support her family.
In 2012, Lina moved to New York City, where she studied at the prestigious Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT). After graduation, she worked for various ready-to-wear brands, including J.Crew, gaining expertise in large-scale design and production. Her work garnered media attention and praise from fashion critics.
Lina's global perspective has led her to international fashion shows and exhibitions, where she draws inspiration from diverse cultures. Her journey from a small Colombian town to the international fashion stage is a testament to her spirit, creativity, and commitment to excellence.
After 13 years of living in NYC, Lina Garcia founded LINA GARCIA ATELIER. Her main purpose in creating the brand was to keep family traditions alive and to address environmental and social issues through fashion. Inspired by the strong women in her life, Lina focuses on sustainability and social responsibility, creating sophisticated, timeless, and versatile pieces.
